“For me to be able to help this part of our population compete and have fun is something I want to help with.”

How We Got Here

In 2016 a team of staff members at TNT Kid’s Fitness came up with an idea. After taking part in several local competitions themselves, they realized a certain part of our population was being ignored. They wanted to create an event where individuals with special needs would be able to compete and showcase their amazing abilities. The ‘FargoMania’ competition began with 20 athletes in it’s first year and quadrupled it’s participation within the first three years.

In 2018 TNT made a connection with Fargo native Connor McGovern. Connor was beginning to make a name for himself as a member of the Denver Broncos and wanted to start giving back to his hometown community. After several conversations, Connor had another great idea. What if we expanded the ‘FargoMania’ event into something bigger? How could we create something where athletes with special needs could participate alongside the general population at the same competition.

This is where the Able Games got its start. This charity completion celebrates the abilities of all individuals in a truly inclusive way. Athletes of all abilities are celebrated and valued at the Able Games.
